Job description:

  • conduct research in the Databases and Information Systems group, as part of the collaborative research center FONDA – Foundations of Workflows for Large-Scale Scientific Data Analysis (https://fonda.huberlin.de/) in the field of data stream processing, the analysis of large scientific data, and related areas
  • develop the algorithmic foundations for automated discovery of queries over data streams, especially in distributed environments
  • implement and evaluate the developed techniques
  • collaborate with other researchers and visit other research groups within FONDA and its international network
  • publish research results in renowned journals and the proceedings of leading international conferences
  • take tasks for their own academic qualification

Requirements:

  • an excellent MSc degree (PhD level position) or an excellent PhD (Postdoc level position) in computer science, or related fields; ideally with a focus on data engineering
  • knowledge in the fields of data stream processing, data mining, and formal foundations of data processing
  • expertise in the development of algorithms for distributed data processing
  • very good programming skills
  • experience in methods for pattern detection
  • excellent scientific communication and writing skills in English
