This is a collaboration with an experimental group in Tübingen (Lab of Jan Benda) doing research on signal processing in the weakly electric fish.

 

job profile:

  • scientific research on efficient coding of fast dynamical stimuli in populations of ON and OFF cells, generally addressing the problem of signal transmission in recurrent networks of spiking neurons
  • development of analytical approaches to information measures, using methods from Statistical Physics and the theory of stochastic processes, large-scale stochastic simulations of recurrent networks

 

requirements:

  • master of physics specialization in theoretical physics or computational neuroscience
  • competence in analytical calculations and approximation methods
  • programming skills in C, C++ and Phyton
  • excellent knowledge of German and English
  • teamwork skills
